18-Month Update

So I realize that I haven't updated in over a month! Kyler turned a year and a half old September 21st. WOW! Here are her stats from her check-up...

weight: 20lbs 11.8 oz which still isn't quite at the curve meaning <5%
height: 31.5" which is the 50%, and now over half my height

She scored great in communication and fine in all the other categories. She does a lot of talking and definitely sounds like a parrot, copying what I say. She can put two or three words together.

When you ask her what color something is, her answer is almost always "red" (Go Wolfpack!). And if you ask her how many there are of something, she always says "one, two", no matter how many there are. If you ask her where Papa (Vern) is, she says "work" even if he's back in the bedroom or downstairs. She loves Mimi (Vern's mom) and Grandma (my mom). My mom came to watch her while I had an appt. So when we went to her appointment later on in the week she kept saying "Gramma play?".

She loves doggies and trucks and making animal sounds. She likes to stand in front of our window to watch the traffic pass by, especially on trash day when she can see the trash & recycle trucks...and when we catch the mailman dropping off the mail. She'd love even better to go outside, which we do sometimes, but the mosquitos are terrible! At least when we take a walk they're not too bad.

One day a couple weeks ago, a neighbor across the street had a tree taken down. What free entertainment! She stood at the window watching the tree truck and the men in the tree for at least 1/2 an hour to an hour. She kept saying "people" and pointing.

She loves climbing on things...chairs, her stroller, whatever. When she sees me starting to cook something, she pushes a chair close by, climbs up and says "watch". I've started to let her help me empty the dishwasher....nice because it gives her something to do and helps me get something done. She takes one piece of silverware out at a time and says "thank you"....because I tell her "thank you" each time she hands me something.

If she sees a rabbit or a frog she says "hop, hop", but when she tries to hop her feet still stay on the ground, just bends her knees and straightens them. (Sometimes she gets one foot off the ground.)

She still loves books and never really tires of "reading" them or having us read to her.

I say she's potty aware, but definitely not potty trained. She will tell me if she has a poopy diaper. We've been sitting her on the potty ever since she could sit. If she needs to go, she will normally go. I always make a big deal about it and give her an animal cracker. I guess I'm not ready to put her on that much more often to make sure she uses the potty and not her diaper. Maybe she'll get to a point where everything clicks and she starts to tell me she has to go.

She likes to play peek a boo and she likes to identify body parts on us, her, Java, her dolls, whatever. (Eyes, nose, ears, mouth, eyebrow, elbows, head, hair, belly, toes) She also likes to point out boo-boos and either kiss them or have me kiss them. She has 12 teeth right now and is working on 4 more.

And one more thing. Everytime she wakes up from a nap or in the morning she always empties everything out of her crib. So I know she's awake when I start hearing "thump...thump..." Which I'm hearing right now, so she must be awake. =)
Sorry this post has been soooo long. It was way overdue. Here are two more pics. One with Papa tickling her and one with a big cheesy grin for the camera.
