We were also able to catch up with our old neighbors, the Fox family, who tie for first as far as Best Neighbors Ever (other great neighbors would be the Fuentes family in Nicaragua). The Foxes have 3 kids, and we enjoy soaking up as much wisdom as we can from them in how to parent well.
On our way home Monday morning we knew our car was starting to have trouble with the air conditioning, but we were hoping to make it back home before getting it fixed. Well, that didn't exactly happen, but we were able to see God's provision throughout the whole experience. We had stopped to have breakfast where Vern had a business meeting, and before he left with his boss for the meeting he had me start up the car. Smoke started coming out from under the hood. We called AAA, and they were able to tow it to a place Vern's boss recommended. Vern's parents live about 1.5 hrs. away, and his dad had just finished up a big project and had the day free, so he drove and picked us up...which means that we were able to spend some good quality time with Granddaddy. We had parked in the shade in a big parking lot while we were eating breakfast and there was a breeze, so we were able to stay cool as we waited for the tow truck. Kyler had just slept the first part of the trip from SC, and so she was rested and very patient as we waited. Plus Vern's boss took Kyler, Java, and me home that night, and Vern's mom was able to take him back to pick up the car the next day. All in all, everything went very smoothly and we are now all back home and the car is fixed.
